Hi..very informative article coupled with extensive research. I wanted to understand the chart labeled performance by sector, which mentions that pharma has given 185 pc median return.. Which looks a bit high.. Doesn’t it will mean that the median pharma stocks have risen 3x in last 28 months,,..kindly throw some light on it . Thanks a lot for your time.
Note that it’s not just pharma, but includes chemicals and healthcare. There are many small pharma companies that have gone up 10x plus. e.g. Caplin point, camlin fine, navin flourine, morepen lab, granules, marksons, vishnu chemicals, themis, aurobindo and the list continues. You would be surprised to see the kind of run up many companies have had. Very few have lost money in this sector. What you are looking at is median returns. If you had invested equally in all the 157 companies in this sector, you would have made 3.9x during these 28 months.
